BOSTON - John J. Ewing, Jr., 71, died September 7, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He leaves behind his son, Deven Ewing and his wife Patricia; his daughter, Rebecca Ewing Smith and her husband Kirk; and their mother, Susan MacWilliams; his son, Sean Ewing; his daughter, Sarah Ewing; and their mother, June Ewing; a brother, Michael Ewing; and two sisters, Judy Moon and Mary Neely; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. John was born October 15, 1943 to the late Gertrude Ewing (Renaud) and John J. Ewing, Sr. He grew up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, where he was valedictorian at St Joseph Central High School. He studied economics at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester and served in the Navy. He spent many years as a programmer analyst in the financial sector. He was an avid reader. He was passionate about cooking and fishing, and he loved his Red Sox. He was known for his storytelling, his amazing memory, and his wry sense of humor.

Interment will be private at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
