HAVERHILL: John F. Carroll, 69, passed away unexpectedly April 4, 2019 at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley. He was the husband of Rosalind E. (D'Auria) Carroll.
Born on October 9, 1949, he was the son of the late Charles and Gloria (Ford) Carroll.
John enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Div. as a member of the 503rd Inf., 173 Airborne Brigade in Phu Tai, Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge he worked many years as Chief Orthopedic Technician at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lowell. John then completed training as a firefighter, and worked in Lawrence for many years until any injury forced his retirement.
John's passion was his family, and he spent countless hours regaling his grandchildren with many timeless stories. He was an avid 45's card player, and enjoyed bird watching during his many walks outdoors.
Besides his wife of47 years, John is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Carroll of Amherst, NH, Jessica Carroll and her husband Daniel Judson of Groveland; grandchildren, Kolbe and Walter Powell, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. John was the brother of the late Charles Carroll, Jr. and Mary Sanzo.
