Obituary

GROVELAND: John R. "Bob" Colcord, 85, passed away Wednesday evening, December 13th, at The Oxford Rehabilitation & Nursing Facility in Haverhill surrounded by his family.

Born in Melrose, John was a resident of Groveland for 58 years, a past member of the Groveland Congregational Church, and had served on the Groveland Planning Board. Prior to retirement he owned and operated Colcord & Son Construction Equipment in Rowley, MA. He was a member of the Royal Arch Mason of Massachusetts, and served in the Navy during WW11 and Korea being stationed in Iceland.

For twenty-one years Bob was an active volunteer on the Groveland Fire Department serving as Captain for nine years prior to retiring. For all special department friends "do you know where you're going?"

He enjoyed life to the fullest. His interests included; sailing, playing golf, traveling, summer home at Lake Winnipesaukee, and many years in Lake Worth Florida during the winter months. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Besides his loving wife Shirlee, of sixty years, he is survived by his sons; Peter Colcord and his wife Rhonda of Mountain View, CA, John Colcord and his wife Vicki of Hampstead, NH, two daughters; Linda Powell and her husband Larry of Groveland, Beth Platts and her husband Bob of Groveland, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to the calling hours Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Monday's funeral will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Groveland Firefighters Assoc., 181 Main Street, Groveland, MA 01834.
