Obituary

WEST CHATHAM, MA: Attorney Jeremiah F. "Jerry" Murphy, Jr., 82, formerly of Lowell, died February 25, 2011 in Brewster, MA. He was the husband of Helen Dorothea (Leonard) Murphy.

Born in Cambridge, MA on June 5, 1928, he was the son of the late Jeremiah F. and Miriam E. (Shaw) Murphy.

Jerry attended Norwich University and graduated from Holy Cross College in 1949 where he was a Purple Knight. He continued his education earning his law degree from Boston College in 1952. He served as Law Clerk for Justice James Ronin The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. He conducted a successful law practice in Lowell for forty-three years before retiring to Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell, Massachusetts Bar Association, Masters in Chancery

Massachusetts and Special Master appointed by the Lowell Bar Association. Jerry was an outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, fishing, skiing, scuba diving and was a pilot. He loved music and enjoyed living life to the fullest

Besides his wife of 60 years he is survived by his children, Jeremiah F. Murphy, 111, Dorothea L. Caplice and husband Edward Filistowicz, Edward L. Murphy, Kathleen A. Griffin and her husband Mark and Brian K. Murphy, Sr. and his wife Maia; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Maureen Wilkins and her husband Frank of Osterville, MA and sister-in-law, Deloris Murphy of Belmont, MA. Mr. Murphy was predeceased by his daughter Cheryl B. Clark and brother, Atty. Richard J. Murphy.

Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill will be private.
