West Newbury

Obituary

Janet E. Fyrberg of West Newbury passed away unexpectedly in Boston at Beth Israel Deaconess after a recent struggle with a heart ailment.

She was the daughter of Ted and Doris (Mehaffey) Fyrberg of Rowley, MA but had lived yer childhood years in Ipswich, graduating from Ipswich High School in 1965.

After attending and graduating from The Chamberlayne School of Retailing in Boston, Janet had a lengthy career in the garment business that took her to Texas and beyond.

However, she eventually returned to the Seacoast area always near the water, where she had spent her youth at family camps on the Southern end of Plum Island.

Along her journey she met a kindred spirit in Russell Riley of Wellesley, MA and they spent 25 years together as entrepreneurial partners. As a consequence, Janet became a special person to Russell’s nephews Duke Riley and Miles O’Brien.

At some point Janet switched gears and became an executive recruiter for the retail industry that she had experienced first-hand. She made close, long-term friends with several people along the way, including Judy Vitella, Linda Pankoff, Glenn Parisi, and more recently, her neighbor Evelyn Cruz.

Auntie Jan as her nieces and nephews referred to her, will be sadly missed at family gatherings where she liked to engage them in lively conversations about their comings and goings.

Janet was predeceased by her parents Ted and Doris Fyrberg and long-term partner Russell Riley.

Janet is survived by her brother David G Fyrberg and wife Sarah of West Newbury and their children: Peter and children Oskar and Ruby of Rowley, MA, Deke and his wife Kacie and children Grace, Ted, and Emme also of Rowley, MA, and Kate of West Newbury.

Burial was private. Donations in her name may be made to: NELR New England Lab Rescue, Limerick, Maine, PO Box 58, 04048. For guestbook, visit www.driscollcares.com
