HAVERHILL - James G. Schiavoni, 73 passed away May 5, 2016 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA of a cerebral hemorrhage. Born on January 9, 1943 and raised in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late Romeo R. and Eleanor (Norton ) Schiavoni. Jim was the eldest of eight children. He graduated from St. James High School in Haverhill, MA in 1961.
He served honorably in the United States Air Force as an airman with the 55th Strategic Bomber Wing based in Kansas from 1963-1967. Jim was employed for 27 years with Raytheon Corp. as a Logistics Manager for the Missile Defense Systems. While Jim was serving in the U.S Air Force he then met his lovely wife, Erma M. (Rodriguez) Schiavoni. They celebrated 51 years together. In addition to his wife, his surviving family members include his sons, James Schiavoni, Jr. of Haverhill and Matthew Schiavoni of Bradford; daughter Trina (Schiavoni) DeBenedetto and her husband Mark of E. Hampstead, NH; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters; many nieces, nephews and cousins; father of the late Maria Schiavoni Jim was a hard working father, always caring for his home, enjoyed his love for classic cars and playing his large pristine record collection which Elvis Presley was his favorite. He loved traveling and going on family trips to Maine regularly. Jim made himself known when entering a room with his loud outspoken voice and a few laughs would follow with his joking manner. He stood side by side always supporting his fellow Veterans. Jim was a good hearted man who was always there to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.
Celebration of Life for Jim and his daughter Maria will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Services will begin at 5:00 PM with United States Air Force Honors concluding.
