Saltzman
June 16, 1925 – May 10, 2015
Atkinson, NH: James W. Saltzman, 89, passed away at the Concord Hospital on May 10, 2015 following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Norma Jeanne (Lejoie) Saltzman.
Born in Haverhill on June 16, 1925, Mr. Saltzman was the son of the late Harry W. and Ellen S. (Lezzi) Saltzman.
Mr. Saltzman was educated in Haverhill, and in 1944 joined the U.S. Army. As a member of Company C, 709th Military Police Service Bn. He served in Germany and France before being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1946. He then began a twenty-five year career at the former Haverhill Paperboard Co. where he advanced from a Machinist Class A to Supervisor before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Crescent Yacht Club, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and shooting skeet at the Chester Rod & Gun Club.
Mr. Saltzman is survived by his children, James H. Saltzman of Knoxville, TN, Bonnie J. Palombo and husband Gary of Raymond, NH; four grandchildren; one great grandson; siblings, Theresa Straw of Haverhill, Myron Saltzman of FL, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Melvin Saltzman and George Saltzman.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15th. Calling hours on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment at Walnut Cemetery.
