HAVERHILL: Ione J. Gagne, 86, formerly of Merrimac, passed away on January 14, 2015 at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley. Ione was the wife of the late Charles L. Gagne to whom she was married for fifty years.

Born in Haverhill on January 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Rena E. (Leathers) Gagne.

Upon graduating from Haverhill High School, Ione began a long and accomplished 47 year career as a legal secretary for Atty. Herbert Finbury. She was a longtime member of the former Grace United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Ione was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends.

Ione was both a mother and best friend to her children; Jane Marshall of Merrimac, Andrew Gagne of Haverhill. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Naomi Marshall of North Andover, and great grandsons Mason and Camden Barber of Merrimac. Ione was the sister to the late Olive Walbridge.
