GEORGETOWN, MA: Hughes S. Amero, Jr., 58, husband of Marcia Maione-Amero, died June 11, 2010 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. He was born on Feb. 17, 1952 in Gloucester. He graduated from Gloucester High School in 1970. He then received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Salem State College in 1975.

Hugh was an avid businessman. He worked at Varian in Gloucester for several years. He then ventured into several successful businesses that were self-owned. Including oil delivery, roofing, and his painting and decorating company that he was most proud of. Hugh enjoyed playing pool and fast cars in his younger years. As he got older, he focused on the more important things like spending time with his wife, daughters, grandchildren and his beloved dogs; Goobie, Bailey, and his two recently rescued Chihuahuas, Peanutbutter and Fluff.

Hugh is survived by his beloved wife and companion of 33 years, Marcia Maione-Amero; three daughters, Alisha Amero, Stacey Amero, Amber Maione-Amero and her boyfriend Kenny King; three grandchildren, Cody Hodgkins, Michael Amero-Viator, and Lily Amero-Viator; mother-in-law, Mary Maione; and many other close relatives. He was predeceased by his father, Hughes S. Amero Sr.; his mother, Dorothy A. Amero; sister, Sharon Klaiber; and father-in-law, Anthony Maione.
