HAVERHILL, MA: Helen D. Chase, 87, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023 at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport. She was the wife of the late Haverhill Fireman Norman Chase.
Born in Haverhill on September 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Calvin V. and Mildred (Wilson) Case.
Following her graduation from Haverhill High School, Helen continued her education graduating from Bradford Junior College. Helen worked several years as secretary at the Universalist Unitarian Church in Haverhill, and thirty years as office manager at Linwood Cemetery prior to her retirement. Helen was active in her civic commitment to Haverhill as a member of the Winnekenni Castle Foundation and John Greenleaf Whittier Foundation. In her leisure time Helen was a hot air balloon enthusiast and enjoyed the experience on three occasions.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Heidi Dean and her husband Kevin of Kensington, NH; grandchildren, Timothy Jackson, Dana Rossignol and Carrie Langley; seven great grandchildren; brother, Ted Case and his wife Maureen of Plymouth, MA; sister-in-law, Sue Case of Scarborough, ME and several nieces and nephews. Helen was the sister of the late C. Wayne Case.
It is with deep appreciation that Heidi expresses her heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Port Healthcare Center and Seacoast Hospice for the loving care provided to Helen, and the kindness extended to her family. Helen was well liked and respected by her many friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 4:00pm, at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill, MA. Calling hours will precede the service from 2:00 – 4:00pm. Donations in Helen's name may be made to Trustees of John Greenleaf Whittier Birthplace, 305 Whittier Road, Haverhill, MSA 01830.
