Heather Mercedes
Hudson
July 3, 1968 – May 24, 2022
BROOKLINE - Heather Mercedes Hudson of Brookline, Massachusetts, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Predeceased by her father, David L. Hudson, Heather is survived by her mother Diane of Haverhill, Massachusetts; her brother, David Leigh, his wife Jennifer, and son Hunter, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; aunts, uncles and cousins in California and West Virginia; and friends.
Heather graduated from Dover-Sherborn High School and Emmanuel College. She earned her master's degree at Suffolk University. An advocate for disability rights, Heather interned and worked for several Massachusetts politicians, both state and federal. She also devoted time to animal rights, volunteering at Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and, most recently, at Animal Rescue League in Dedham, where she was a "catvocate."
Heather is admired by her family for her perseverance and independence in a world that struggles with diversity and equality for those with disabilities. She will be remembered by those that knew her for her strength and determination, her quick wit, and her kindness. She will be missed by her close friends and those who loved her and enjoyed her cheerful personality and love of Celtics basketball.
