Obituary

ROWLEY: Hazen G. "Hank" Hale, Jr., 84, passed away on October 27, 2012 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was the husband of Donna (Heald) Hale.

Born in Arlington, MA on October 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Hazen G. Sr. and Laura (Scamman) Hale. Hank graduated from Watertown High School and continued his education graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1962, and a degree in Geology from Salem State College in 1979. He then began a long and varied career spanning many years until his retirement in 2008. His career included designing machinery for the shoe industry, and specialized in hydraulics and mechanical repair. In the 70's he established Hale Engineering & Sons in Danvers, and was instrumental in setting up the 747 engine test stands.

In his later years Hank was active in the Beverly Council on Ageing, and co-founded the T-Club and Gentle Walking with Frequent Stops Club. Hank thrived in the outdoors where he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hiking, and camping. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.

Besides his wife Donna of thirty-two years he is survived by his children, David D. Hale and wife Jennifer of Salisbury, Roger C. Hale of Salem, MA, Laura K. Parsons of Georgetown, Miles A. Hale and wife Amy of Beverly, Matthew J. Hale of Rowley, Benjamin R. Hale of Rowley; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 to 12:00 noon. Interment at Riverview Cemetery in Groveland. Donations in his memory may be made to the Mass Audubon Society, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773, or the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241.
