HAVERHILL: Grace E. (Mitchell) Bitomski, 87, died May 13, 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Mrs. Bitomski was the wife of the late Harry T. "Ted" Bitomski.

Born in Haverhill on December 13, 1923, Mrs. Bitomski was the daughter of the late Wesley H. and Blanche (Gerrish) Mitchell.

After raising her family she worked twenty years in the garment industry as a stitcher at Glen-Mar Corp. in Haverhill before retiring in 1976. She was a member of the former Winter Street Baptist Church before joining the First Baptist Church where she was Director of the Nursery for fifteen years. She was a member of P.T.A., and involved with the Tilton School Drum & Bugle Corp. She and her husband were fortunate to have traveled throughout the world. Mrs. Bitomski was an avid reader, accomplished in needlework and cross stitching, and enjoyed the time spent with her family at her camp on Pine River Pond in Wakefield, NH.

Mrs. Bitomski is survived by her children, Theodore W. "Ted" Bitomski and his wife Linda of Merrimac, MA, Geraldine M. "Gerrie" Maffris of Haverhill; four grandchildren and two great granddaughters. She was the sister of the late Albert, Howard and Fred Mitchell.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Interment at Linwood Cemetery will be private. Calling hours Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 148 Main Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
