Obituary

Geraldine May Morin, affectionately known as “Gerry” to all who knew and loved her, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, with her daughters by her side. She was 94 years old and lived in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

She was born on October 25, 1931, in White River Junction, Vermont, the beloved daughter of Jessie Shepard and Albert Gibbs. She graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont, New Hampshire, where during her senior year she met the love of her life, Richard Morin. They were married for 62 years before his passing.

Gerry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend.

Gerry’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother to Linda Fleischer and her husband David of Odenton, Maryland, and Jeanie Morin of Haverhill, Massachusetts.

She was a cherished grandmother and is survived by her grandchildren and their spouses: Bryan Fiscel and his wife of Guilford, New Hampshire; Marc Fiscel and his wife of Haverhill, Massachusetts; Jennifer McClusky of Pepperell, Massachusetts; Abbey Soucy and her husband of Conway, South Carolina; and Nathan Fleischer and his wife of Galesville, Maryland. She was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Sarah Bennett of Kenvil, New Jersey.

She was blessed with nine beautiful great-grandchildren who knew her as Gigi, Ginjy, Grammie, and Mémére.

She is also survived by her brother, Jay Shepard and his wife Simone of Enfield, New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her brother, Gerald Gibbs of Blacksburg, Virginia. In addition, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Claire Solomon of Seattle, Washington, and Aline Morin of Greenville, South Carolina, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. For many years, her nieces and nephews all received Christmas gifts that were piled high on her dining room table waiting to be mailed.

Together they lived in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Bedford, New Hampshire, Springfield, New Hampshire, and Newton, New Hampshire. They spent fifteen winters in Florida before eventually settling in Newton. After Richard passed away, Gerry made her home with her daughter Jeanie in Haverhill, Massachusetts, where she lived until her passing.

She was an amazing homemaker who had a special way of doing things. Her Thanksgiving meals with family were legendary, with a label for every dish served. Her focus and devotion were always her family. She truly was the most amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was often complimented on her youthful appearance and knowledge of her medical needs. A doctor at Beth Israel Hospital once referred to her as a “Shiny Diamond.”

She had two other passions, her garden in Springfield, New Hampshire, and painting. She was a talented artist and won first place for her Sugar Barn painting at a county fair. Her faith was also strong and carried her through difficult times.

She had many friends through the years and still kept in touch with several from high school. One of her close friends said she made everyone feel special.

She was a wonderful person who will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A true “Shiny Diamond.”
