Obituary

HAVERHILL: Gerald E. Finnigan, 77, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2022 at Wingate at Haverhill.

Born in Haverhill on April 27, 1944, he was the son of the late Edwin R. and Margaret I. (Spaulding) Finnigan, and raised by his step-mother, Evelyn B. Finnigan, from the age of four.

Gerry was educated in Georgetown and graduated from Georgetown High School. He worked as manager at Georgetown Auto Parts and, at the same time, served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT with the Georgetown Fire Department. As an outdoorsman, Gerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening while watching and feeding the many birds in his yard. Gerry was a longtime HAM radio enthusiast with call sign KA1JMX. He enjoyed cooking, listening to "The Oldies", and sharing jokes with his many friends.

Gerry is survived by his former spouse, Dianne Finnigan of Byfield; daughter, Barbara Gosselin of Haverhill; stepson, Thomas Rogers of Byfield; siblings, Jill E. Bowen of Albuquerque, NM, Barbara Bergeron of Haverhill; four grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by step siblings Frank Brown, Diana Howes and Beverly Brown.

Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill will be private. A celebration of Gerry's life will be held at a later date.
