HAVERHILL: Georgia S. Venturo, 89, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2022 at Hannah Dustin Healthcare. She was the wife of the late Gennaro Venturo who passed away in 2011.
Born in Haverhill on April 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Stephen C. and Florence (Rallis) Johnson.
Georgia was educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1951. Her work career as an assembler at the former Western Electric spanned thirty years until her retirement. Georgia was an accomplished vocalist, and was a member of Choral Arts of New England and the Lucent Chorus, and accompanied them on their performances throughout the Merrimack Valley. Georgia found great solace knitting, and enjoyed making many quilts for family members and friends. In years past, she and Gennaro enjoyed spending the winter months in their home in Fort Myers Beach, FL.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Christine M. McIver and her husband James of Haverhill; grandchildren, Colleen Simoes and her husband Chad of Haverhill, Maura Custar and her husband Daniel of North Andover, Erin Bradshaw and her husband Brian of Westford, MA; great grandchildren, Luke, Ryan, Benjamin, Jack, Joseph, Connor and Maeve.
The family has requested that you unabashedly flirt with or hug someone this week in Georgia's memory. Those who knew Georgia will understand this request. In lieu of flowers donations in Georgia's name may be made to the Joyce Moriarty Scholarship Fund, 6 Duquette Drive, Haverhill, MA 01830.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, May 20 th at 11:00am, at Sacred Heart Church in Bradford to be followed by interment at Linwood Cemetery.
