Obituary

HAVERHILL - George A. Verrette, 84, of Haverhill, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen. George was born in Haverhill on May 23, 1930, son of the late Frank and Caroline (Dondero) Verrette. Loving husband of 52 years to Janice (Schena) Verrette. He was raised in Amesbury and educated at St. Joseph's School, Amesbury, then attended Tilton Preparatory School in NH, and graduated from Saint Michael's College in VT.

George is a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He worked for many years as a Social Worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until his retirement. He was a very caring compassionate person, he enjoyed playing golf, restoring houses, the Red Sox, and bowling with the Merrimac Senior League, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

George is survived by his wife, Janice; his loving children, George Verrette of Haverhill, Laura Verrette and husband Todd Proia of Haverhill, Kara Verrette of Haverhill, Christina Verrette of Amesbury; granddaughter, Lucy Scholz; and sister, Frances Verrette of Haverhill. He was brother of the late Louise Charney of NY.

Services were privately held in the Verrette Family Lot in Linwood Cemetery.
