George H.
Holloway Jr
July 19, 1956 – August 23, 2023
HAVERHIL: George "Doc" Holloway, Jr., 67, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
Born in Concord, VT on July 19,1956, George is predeceased by his parents George Holloway, Sr., and Annette Holloway (Gingue) of Nashua, NH who passed in 2017 and 2021 respectively.
George had a lighthearted personality and was known for his jokes and playful teasing that could lighten any situation. George was a good father, son and brother and will be sadly missed by his sons Chris Holloway of Derry, NH and Matt Holloway of Derry, NH; granddaughter, Kayla Holloway; and his siblings, Jerry Holloway of Derry, NH, Judy Dube of Methuen, MA, Kathy Switser of Lyndonville, VT, and Sally Holloway of Manchester, NH.
George joined and trained with the United States Air Force. Anyone who knew him knew he didn't like to take orders from anyone so his time there was brief. His passion was for antiques and collectables, a job he embraced because he could be his own boss. For some time, he owned his own antique storefront, but in recent years, he made a living buying and selling items at flea markets.
As a younger man, George enjoyed playing softball, street hockey, and bowling in local leagues. In his later years, he loved a good card game, specifically 45's and Three Nines. George was no stranger to the stage and enjoyed belting out his favorite tunes during impromptu karaoke performances, both in local bars and in his own home. George was a huge fan of The Doors, and you can bet he loved to sing their songs the most.
Another one of George's favorite pastimes was watching sports on TV, from the Bruins and Patriots to the Red Sox and Celtics. A diehard New England fan, George, like many other loyal Boston fans, harbored a deep resentment of the New York Yankees and wasn't afraid to show it.
He enjoyed watching old western movies and playing pool, especially when it was with family on Christmas Eve.
George was known as a jokester who would make people laugh. It's this humor and ability to turn serious into silly that will be most missed by family and friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill will be private.
