HAVERHILL: George Douglas Frost, 90, beloved husband of the late Shirley (Eaton) Frost, passed away on May 7, 2014 at Wingate at Haverhill.

George was born in Boston on July 16, 1923, the son of the late George C. and Jennie (Douglas) Frost. He moved to Neck Hill Road, Ward Hill at the age of two, and was educated in the Haverhill Public Schools graduating from Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1942.

George was employed by Springhill Dairy in Ward Hill, and the C.T. Whittaker Co. of Danvers; Marble Motor Co. of Haverhill; and retired from A.T. & T. of Andover in 1988. He was a member of the former First Congregational Church of Haverhill, and was a member of the former Bradford Grange #238 for over sixty years. George was an avid draft horse enthusiast, and belonged to the Eastern Horse Association, Inc., the Southern Florida Draft Horse Association, and the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals. He also belonged to the Retired Members Club, CWA and A.A.R.P. In recent years, he has been a volunteer for the Vision Impaired Group at the Council on Aging, and the Blind Guild of Haverhill.

George is survived by his step-son, James Crawford of North Conway, NH; three step-grandchildren, Steven Wilson, Susan Wilson, and Jaimie Crawford; and four step-great grandchildren. George also leaves several cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy (Frost) Burt, and step-daughter Judith (Crawford) Segel.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral on Sunday, May 11th at 7:00 pm at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery will be Sunday, May 18th , at 2:00 pm.
