Obituary

ATKINSON, NH: Franklin H. Youngblood, 83, died Sept. 20th at Merrimack Valley Hospital. Mr. Youngblood was the husband of Ruth A. (Franklin) Youngblood.

Born in Woodstock, GA June 22, 1923, Mr. Youngblood was the son of the late Azy C. and Ida S. (Grimes) Youngblood. Mr. Youngblood graduated from Canton High School in Woodstock, GA. During the war he served in the European Theater.

After moving to Haverhill in 1946 he was employed at Western Electric, and subsequently began work in the plumbing trade. In 1959 he organized Youngblood Plumbing & Heating Co. where he was active for 40 years.

Frank gained much respect and recognition through his involvement within the local community.The First Baptist Church has played an intergral role in his life where his served as an Elder, Deacon, member of the choir, and Sunday School Superintendent. He was honored with over 40 awards for his dedicated community service throughout his life including the first award for Outstanding Service from the Greater Haverhill Council of Churches, and the B'nai B'rith annual award for service to the community.He was a member of the Salvation Army, and the Merrimack Valley United Way, a board of director at the YMCA, and served as chairman of the Advisory Board at the Whittier Vo-Tech School to mention only some of his city involvement.

Besides his wife of 60 years he is survived by his son, David Youngblood and his wife Mary of Atkinson; daughter, June Smart and her husband Jay of Haverhill; grandchildren Tyler Youngblood and Michelle Richardson; sister, Wylene of Atlanta, GA; brother, Clyde Youngblood and his wife Susan of Woodstock, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Monday 10:00 at First Baptist Church. Interment at Locust Grove Cemetery in Merrimac. Calling hours are Sunday 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 217 Main Street, Haverhill, MA.
