HAVERHILL: Frank R. Wheeler, 82, formerly of Kingsbury Ave., died Sept. 11th at The Oxford. Mr. Wheeler was the husband of Eleanor M. (Johnson) Wheeler.
Born in Plaistow April 20, 1924, Mr. Wheeler was the son of the late Charles F. and Sarah (Palmer) Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler attended school in Plaistow and Haverhill. For ten years Mr. Wheeler had worked for the former Haverhill National Bank in the bookkeeping department, and then as a messenger. He went to work for Burns Security as a guard for various companies including Process Engineering in Plaistow and Baily Corp. in Seabrook before his retirement in 1989.
Mr. Wheeler was a member, and past chairman, of United Commercial Travelers. As a CB radio enthusiast he enjoyed meeting and working with his many new friends. His interests included swimming at the YMCA and day tripping to NH.
Besides his wife of 55 years he is survived by his sister Emma Smith and her husband Joe of Santa Maria, CA, niece Marcia Main of Plaistow, and nieces and nephews in NH, OR, AZ, former sister-in-law Eleanor Peabody and her husband George of Plaistow, and many friends who offered support over the years including Elizabeth Klickmueller, and Charles and Betty Spears, all of Plaistow.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Monday 11:00 at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Online condolences may be sent to www.dcsfuneralhome.com
