MERRIMAC, MA: Florence L. (West) Wallace, 81, a town resident of more than seventy years, died Saturday evening, Aug. 2nd, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Mrs. Wallace was the wife of George H. Wallace.
Born in Haverhill July 25, 1927, Mrs. Wallace was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Audrey E. (Yeaton) West.
For twelve years she had worked as a screen printer at AT&T before her retirement in 1989. Mrs. Wallace was an active member of Pilgrim Congregational Church where she participated in the Women's Guild, and served countless hours as a volunteer at the Amesbury Health Center.
Beside her husband of 28 years she is survived by her children Jacqueline Pare and husband Gerald, Bruce Basso, both of Haverhill; Ruth Wallace of Westminster, CO, Wanda Kranz of IA, David Wallace of Exeter, NH, Carol Gelina and husband Douglas of Groveland, James Wallace and wife Holly of Newburyport; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister Viola Chapman and husband Reginald of Kingston, NH, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Wilfred West.
Friends are invited to the funeral Wednesday, Aug. 6th, 10:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Congregational Church. Interment at Locust Grove Cemetery. Calling hours at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill Tuesday 6 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Organ Fund c/o Pilgrim Congregational Church, 27 Church Street, Merrimac, MA 01860.
