HAVERHILL: Flora C. "Flo" Martin, 82, was called home to Heaven on January 17, 2019 at Penacook Place.
Born on March 2, 1936 in Sullivan, ME, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Nina Martin.
After graduating from Coventry High School (RI) in 1954 she continued her education at Gordon College graduating in 1964. Flo received a Master's in Early Childhood Education from Tufts University in 1980. A longtime resident of Haverhill, Flo was a member of West Congregational Church, and among other gifts, gave many years to the Haverhill community as director and teacher at Hilltop School, trainer of teachers and day care workers, and tutor of adult learners which earned her recognition as YWCA Woman of the Year in 1995.
Flo is survived by her brother, Paul F. Martin and his wife Jennifer of Tomball, TX, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at 2:00 PM, at West Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers donations in Flo's memory may be made to West Congregational Church, 767 Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01832, or to the charity of donor's choice.
