Obituary

NEWBURYPORT: Eunice Mylonas Hale, 77, died January 3, 2012 at Merrimack Valley Hospice in Haverhill. She was most recently a resident of Newburyport and Lixouri, Greece.

Born in St. Louis, MO on June 7, 1934, Mrs. Hale was the daughter of the late George and Lela Mylonas.

Mrs. Hale graduated from Vassar College, Class of 1956, and completed her PhD in 1974 at N.Y.U. Throughout her life she was a mother, teacher, writer, art historian and art critic. She was married to the late Robert Beverly Hale, a teacher of artistic anatomy and a curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Eunice was known for her adventurous and independent spirit, her generosity and warm hospitality, and wonderful story telling.

She is survived by her children, Alexander and Evelyn, grandchildren, Marlowe and Andreas, and her sister Daphne Marsh. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service on Saturday, January 14th at 11:00 a.m., at the First Religious Society, 26 Pleasant St., Newburyport.
