HAVERHILL- Eugene A. Sullivan, 88, of Haverhill, formerly of Peabody, passed away peacefully Friday evening, July 13, 2012 at the Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital, Haverhill.

Born in East Boston, on January 23, 1924, last of eleven children of the late William A. and Hannah L. (Hayes) Sullivan. Raised in West Roxbury, he attended local schools. Mr. Sullivan is a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II.

He settled in Peabody and lived there for many years until recently moving to Haverhill to be closer to his family.

Cherished husband of 62 years of Mary C. (Szewczuk) of Haverhill, formerly of Peabody.

Mr. Sullivan worked for Mobil Oil as a Merchant Marine for 35 years until his retirement. Throughout his career, he traveled the world many times over, embracing many different cultures and sharing his experiences with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, his surviving family members include his loving son, Patrick J. Sullivan and his wife Kathleen of Bradford; grandchildren, Mary Katherine Sullivan, Carlene Sullivan and Daniel Sullivan all of Bradford; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be privately held on Tuesday, July 17, with Catholic Funeral Rites being offered in the Sullivan family lot in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree. Arrangements by the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street (Rte. 125), Bradford (978) 374-0000.
