Obituary

HAMPSTEAD, NH: Ethel V. (Hoyt) (Consalvi) Ross, 77, wife of Warren K. Ross, died March 9, 2010 at Exeter Hospital after a brave and arduous battle with cancer.

Born in Portsmouth, NH on June 27, 1932, Mrs. Ross was the daughter of the late Raphael J. and Ruth (Hamilton) Hoyt. Mrs. Ross attended Portsmouth High School, and received her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Northern Essex Community College. She was an eager, diligent and accomplished student. Learning was an exciting adventure to her and she approached it with great enthusiasm. Her faith and her family were her life and brought her great comfort and joy. She chose to stay at home to raise her family and cherished those days. When her children were older, she joined Addison Wesley Publishing Co. as a bookkeeper, and after five years joined her husband at W K Ross, Inc.

Mrs. Ross was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas of Derry, NH serving as a Eucharistic minister and member of the choir. She assisted at the Mass at St. Anne's Convent and St. Benedict Abby in Still River, MA for many years before becoming a member of Holy Angels Church in Plaistow, NH. She was a member of the Consolers of the United Hearts Lay Apostolate, and the legendary Rotary Ann's Club of Haverhill.

Mrs. Ross loved to travel and explore new places. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, walking the beach with her husband and dogs, shopping with her brother, daughters and friends and spending time with all her loved ones. Beside her husband of thirty-one years she is survived by her brother Frank J. Hoyt of Hampstead, NH, her daughters, Cheryl R. Driscoll and husband Thomas J. of Harwich, MA, Donna M. Consalvi of Sandown, NH, Nancy R. Joseph and husband Peter E. of Sandown, NH, Margaret M. McGaffigan and husband James A. of Brewster, NY; stepdaughter Stephanie M. Ross and husband Dallas Salisbury of Washington, DC and stepson Warren K. Ross, Jr. and wife Ann Butterworth of Wellesley, MA; grandchildren, Dana J., Michael J., and Elise M. Driscoll of Harwich, Peter E. and Leah C. Joseph of Sandown, and Christianna M. and Isabella M.R. McGaffigan of Brewster, NY. She is survived by nephews Steven R. and Craig M. Adams. She was the sister of the late Nancy R. Adams. In addition she is survived by her step-brother Craig Wheeler and wife Donna of Greenland, NH, sister-in-law Betsy Langlois and husband William of Hampstead, NH and many cousins and friends who were very special to her.

Friends are invited to the funeral Monday, March 15th, at 9:00 a.m., at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Church in Plaistow, NH. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Sunday, March 14th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment at South Cemetery in Portsmouth, NH. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Benedict Abbey, P.O.
