PORT CHARLOTTE, FL: Elizabeth A. Stearns, 86, formerly of Groveland and wife of the late Richard Stearns, passed away on December 25, 2023 at Winchester Hospital.
Born in Orlando, FL. on December 24, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Elizabeth (Pickard) Parker.
Elizabeth was educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1955. She continued her education graduating from Endicott Junior College in 1957, and Salem State College with a degree in Education Science in 1960.
She had a fulfilling career as a teacher in Groveland for seven years. Elizabeth was married to Maurice Feingold until his death in 1969. She and Richard Stearns were married for thirty-eight years until his passing in 2008.
Elizabeth was active in her community as a member of the Groveland Garden Club, Leisure Hour Club, and Papyrus Club. She and Richard served as Secretary/Treasurer of the New England Chapter of New England and Willis Chapter of Retired YMCA Directors. As a member of St. James Episcopal Church, she served on the Vestry and Altar Guild. She and her family enjoyed many automobile cross country trips.
Elizabeth was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Elizabeth is survived by her children; Mark Stearns and his wife Suzi of Apopka, FL; Scott Stearns and his wife Jennifer of Groveland; Beth Stearns of Port Charlotte, FL; brother, Edward Parker, Jr. of Groveland; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Per Elizabeth's request there will be no calling hours, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment at Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Elizabeth's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
