(Crosby) Platts

HAVERHILL: Elizabeth A. (Crosby) Platts, 90, wife of the late Howard S. Platts, and a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Tuesday afternoon, March 17th, at Baker-Katz Nursing Home.
Born in Haverhill on March 10, 1919, Mrs. Platts was the daughter of the late William and Stella (Gove) Crosby, and step-daughter of the late John Leeman.
Mrs. Platts was educated in Haverhill, had worked at the Woodheel Shoe Factory, ten years for the former Collins Bakery on White Street, and also worked at Blake's Pharmacy. She was a life-time member of Riverside Memorial Church and dedicated many years of service as a Deaconess, member of the Flower Committee, and, her favorite, as driver for the church's Kindergarten children. She and her late husband served as church Sextons for several years. Her civic activities included membership in the Women's City Club. She enjoyed doing many different crafts. Her family was her greatest joy.
Mrs. Platts is survived by her children, Beverly A. Potter of Alfred, NY, Kenneth H. Platts and wife Ruth Ann of Methuen, Barbara J. Beekler and husband Robert of Kingston, NH, Robert S. Platts and wife Beth of Groveland, MA, and son-in-law Charles E. Daggett, Jr. of Plaistow, NH; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one nephew. She was the mother of the late Margaret P. Daggett, sister of the late Pauline J. Miller, step-sister of the late Onietta Beekler, and mother-in-law of the late Dr. Barrett G. Potter.
Friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service this Monday, March 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Memorial Church. At the family's request there will be no calling hours. Private interment, at a later date, at Main Street Cemetery in Rowley. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in her memory to the Baker-Katz Nursing Home, 194 Boardman Street, Haverhill, MA 01830. Arrangements are under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill.
