BOXFORD - Eleuterio Hernandez, 85, of Boxford passed away on February 10, 2016 and was joined by his wife, Maria Caridad Hernandez, 78, of Boxford on November 5, 2016, both finding peace after long illnesses.
He was born on April 18, 1930 in Las Villas, Cuba and she was born on September 12, 1938 in Cienfuegos, Cuba. Seeking freedom, they immigrated to Miami in May of 1972 and raised a close and loving family. They joined their daughter and son-in-law, Aleida and William Carr, in Boxford, MA in 2004 after his retirement.
The were welcomed in heaven by their son, Evidio "Tony" Hernandez, who died on November 27, 1980 and their daughter-in-law, Ruth Vega Hernandez who died on November 27, 2009. They are survived by their loving sons and daughters - Enrique Hernandez (and wife Lisa), Aleida Lourdes Carr (and husband William), Luz Marina Cornell, Elio Jose Hernandez and Elvis Lucas Hernandez - and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren - Kevin Hernandez (and wife Diana), Kerri White (and husband Dan), Kristina Golden-Hernandez, Natasha Fiers (and husband Steve), Kyle Cornell, Tristan Cornell, Elio Julio Hernandez, Maria Carr, Eric Hernandez, Ethan Hernandez, Eli Hernandez, Enrique & Evan Hernandez, Emily Hernandez, Lily White, Kaleb & Kylie Golden, Elise Hernandez and Jake Fiers and expected great-granddaughter Elena Rose White.
Services for Eleuterio were held at Driscoll Funeral Home in February - which brought great comfort to the family and to Maria. Maria's service was also held at Driscoll Funeral Home on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Their children would like to express their deepest gratitude for all of the compassionate care provided to them by all of the physicians and nurses who cared for them - especially Dr. Eduardo Haddad, who gave Maria her biggest wish...extra time with her children and the Merrimack Valley Hospice House that provided peaceful care for her final days
