BRADFORD - Edward M. Nordengren, Jr. 86, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Merrimack Valley Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on September 10, 1927. Edward was the son of the late Edward M. Nordengren, Sr. and Catherine (Pratt) Nordengren.
Edward is a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II from 1945 to 1947. He worked for Western Electric and retired as a Supervisor with AT&T after 42 years of service. Edward was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford and original member of the Bradford Swim Club. He was a former member of Cedardale Swim Club, coached CYO basketball and the American Little League.
His surviving family members include his loving wife of 64 years, Marguerite (Morin) Nordengren; sons, Charles Nordengren and wife Rebecca, Joseph Nordengren, Edward Nordengren, III and wife Donna; daughters, Mary-Ellen Knox and husband Lewis, Anne Huertas and husband Ismael, Patricia Welch, and Amy Mooradian; nineteen grandchildren, Kacey Oreal and husband Kevin, Kallie Rossi and husband Anthony, Melissa McDonough and husband Francis, Joseph Nordengren, Jr. and wife Michele, Jeffrey Nordengren and wife Brianna, Michaela Hickey and husband Brenden, Rebecca Brickman and husband Gregg, Jennifer Owens, Bianca Huertas, Chelsea Welch, Iris Welch, Bailey Welch, Michael Welch and wife Henri, Caitlyn Mooradian, Ryan Mooradian, Kevin Mooradian and wife Jennifer, Samuel Mooradian, Edward Nordengren, IV and wife Brianna K. and Erika Nordengren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother Gerald Nordengren and wife Theresa; sister-in-law Marion Nordengren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Michael Nordengren; daughter-in-law, Cindy Nordengren; granddaughter, Amy Welch; brother, William Nordengren; and sister Dorothy Nordengren.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, February 7, beginning in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, (Rte. 125), Bradford at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 So. Main Street, Bradford at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hilldale Avenue, Haverhill. Relatives and friends are invited.
