Dorothy A.
Reynolds
July 13, 1914 – April 13, 2010
HAVERHILL: Dorothy A. Reynolds, 95, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died April 13, 2010 at Hannah Duston Healthcare. Born in Haverhill on July 13, 1914, Miss Reynolds was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Elsie G. (Webster) Reynolds.
Miss Reynolds was a true Christian, and the West Congregational Church was the center of her life for about 75 years. In deed, she was born next door to the church, and lived her entire life within three miles of the building. She was a mainstay of the church through the difficult years of 1940-1960, and was one who helped to keep the doors open. Miss Reynolds sang "alto" in the choir, taught 6th grade Sunday School for decades, and served as church treasurer for 50 years. She was treasurer of Hilltop School and Hillside Cemetery Assoc. She was a delegate, and officer, in the Haverhill Council of Churches, and the Essex North Association of Congregational Christian Church. Her many friends will remember her working at D.J. Casey Paper Co. for more than 50 years. While there she would collect scrap paper and bring it to the church to be used as a fund raiser for youth activities.
Miss Reynolds was predeceased by her sister Helen R. Buttrick.
Friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Thursday, April 29th at 4:00 p.m. at West Congregational Church. Interment at Hillside Cemetery was private. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Donations in her memory may be made to West Congregational Church, 767 Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01832.
