Obituary

HAVERHILL: Dorothy J. "Dottie" Quinney, 93, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2022 at High Pointe House in Haverhill. She was the wife of the late Bernard F. "Bernie" Quinney.

Born in Haverhill on November 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Mabel E. (Pease) Franklin.

Dottie was educated in Merrimac, MA and graduated from Merrimac High School, Class of 1946. She married her beloved "Bernie" in 1949. Dottie's life was defined by her love and commitment to God and Family. One always knew when she entered a room with her distinctive voice and contagious smile. Dottie had a spiritual awakening in 1963 that not only impacted her life, but the life of her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Haverhill for over 40 years where she was President of the Ladies Aid Missionary Society, member of the Mary Martha Circle, Missions Committee, Education Board, and the Bell Choir. She was also a member of the Women's City Club.

Dottie moved to Ocean Park, ME where she and Bernie managed the American Baptist campground, Oceanwood, for three years.

She was a member of Marsh Corner Community Church in Methuen where she served on the Mission Team.

Of the many ministries she was involved in, three were dearest to her heart: her Junior High Students, her involvement with Word of Life Clubs, and Missions. She prayed and corresponded to over thirty missionaries worldwide during her later adult years via the computer!

Dottie's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were precious to her. In addition to raising her family she loved and cared for 17 Foster Children over a span of 16 years. Bible reading and praying for her family and others was her daily routine. The last words she ever spoke was a prayer for her children.

Dottie is survived by her devoted family; Kenneth F. Quinney of Plaistow, Beverly A. Yarborough and her husband Richard of Sacco, ME, Thomas H. Quinney and his wife Becky of Plaistow, NH, Carol C. Dulong of Haverhill, Jon M. Quinney of Haverhill; grandchildren, Kelsey, Tyler, Scott, Jennifer, Anthony and Michael and nine great grandchildren. The youngest of six children, Dottie is survived by her sister Ruth Youngblood of Haverhill. Dottie was the mother of the late Donald C. Quinney.
