Obituary

HAVERHILL - Dorothy M. (Scanlon) Pierce, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, at her home surrounded by her family.

Dottie was born in Cambridge on September 22, 1942, daughter of the late Joseph Scanlon Sr., and Dorothy (Hebert) Scanlon. Raised in Cambridge, she attended Cambridge schools and was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. Longtime resident of Arlington and Haverhill.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to many. Her interests included traveling to the Caribbean, Florida, Grand Canyon, Yellow Stone National Park and other destinations.

Her surviving family members includes her loving husband of 23 years, Richard G. Pierce; cherished children, Deryl Witham of Arlington, Dana Witham of NH, Dawn M. Witham of Arlington, Denys Witham Stuffle and husband Paul of Arlington; brother, Joseph Scanlon, Jr. and wife Sandi of Hudson; caring extended family, Lisa Foley and husband Fran of Maryland, Gregory Pierce and wife Kim of Haverhill and Keith Pierce and wife Heather of West Newbury; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many caring friends; sister of the late Walter Scanlon and Claire Ferrari.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, February 18, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill (Rte.125), at 11:00 AM.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday in the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dottie's memory to Emmaus, Inc. PO Box 568, Haverhill, MA 01831; or to Ruth's House, 111 Lafayette Square, Haverhill, MA 01832.
