NORTH ANDOVER - Dorothy "Dottie" Grace (Berry) Atwood, 91, resident of North Andover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16 at the Lawrence General Hospital.

She was born in Lawrence and attended Lawrence Public Schools. Dottie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, cooking her big Sunday dinners and had a true love and passion for children.

Dorothy has such a large family, many of which she graciously adopted into her life. She was "Nana" to many and her beautiful heart was so warm and welcoming. She was a woman of honor, someone we all looked up to for advice, comfort and safety. Her laughter was contagious and her endless love for every person she encountered was truly inspiring.

Dorothy Grace was the daughter of Percy and Lillian Berry. She is predeceased by her husband, John Atwood, her son Stephen Atwood, her brother Edwin Berry, sister Avis Berry and daughter in-law Dawn Atwood. Dottie is survived by her nine loving children, John Jr., Donna, Daniel, Avis, Richard, Lois, David, Nancy and Timothy, along with her beloved sons and daughters in-law, countless grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the VFW, 26 River Street, Methuen, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
