Obituary

HAVERHILL: Dorothy M. (Atwood) Lampron, 89, formerly of Atkinson, NH, died December 25, 2009 at Penacook Place. Mrs. Lampron was the wife of the late Ernest J. Lampron, Sr.

Born in Haverhill on January 31, 1920, Mrs. Lampron was the daughter of the late Willard F. and Margaret M. (Griffin) Atwood.

Educated in Haverhill Mrs. Lampron graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1937, and was former employee of the Haverhill Public Library. She was an avid sports fan, and regardless of the weather, would follow her grandchildren in all their individual sports endeavors. Mrs. Lampron founded the Girl Scout chapter at St. James Church for her daughters to participate. A golfer for many years, Dorothy was a member of Crystal Springs Golf Club, Cedardale Health Club, and the Florence Crittenden League of Haverhill. While a resident of Atkinson she was a member of the Women's City Club of Atkinson, past president of the Atkinson Garden Club, and former District Director of the New Hampshire Federation of Garden Clubs. Her numerous accomplishments in gardening were acknowledged by winning the Tri Color award, and several blue ribbons.

Mrs. Lampron's family includes her sons, Ernest J. Lampron, Jr. and his wife Angela of South Groveland, David Lampron and his wife Susan of Rochester, NH; daughters, Linda Akstin and her husband James of Haverhill, Marylee Durocher and her husband George of Haverhill; brother, Robert Atwood of West Newbury; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Willard F. Atwood and Helen O'Brien.

Friends are invited to the funeral Wednesday, December 30, 2009, 9:30 a.m., at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill, to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 at Sacred Hearts Church. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery will be private. Calling hours Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite1509, New York, NY 10018.
