HAVERHILL: Doris M. (Cotton) Boyd, 94, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2014 at Wingate of Haverhill. Mrs. Boyd was the wife of the late William G. Boyd.

Born in Birmingham, England on March 14, 1920, Mrs. Boyd was the daughter of the late Percy and Florence J. (Grater) Cotton.

Mrs. Boyd immigrated to this country from England in 1920 settling in Haverhill. She was educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1938. Her career as a bookkeeper spanned many years and worked for Imperial Cleaners, Samuel Roberts Co, and the Fire Department Credit Union. She was a longtime member of First Church of Christ (White Church) in Bradford. Among her hobbies Mrs. Boyd enjoyed crafts, baking and gardening.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by her sister, Marjorie Cotton; brother, Roland T. Cotton, both of Haverhill; nephews, Thomas and David Cotton, and niece, Jane Robberts. Mrs. Boyd was the sister of the late Donald W. Cotton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill followed by internment at Elmwood Cemetery.
