ATKINSON, NH - Donald J. McManus, 69, of Atkinson, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born on May 14, 1947 in Everett to a large Irish Catholic family. He was raised and educated in Everett. After high school, he began his career with General Electric while attending Northeastern University for his undergraduate degree and graduating from Lesley University with his Master's Degree in engineering. Other than for a short time in Wilmington, NC, Donald was employed as an engineer at the Lynn GE plant until his retirement after working for 38 years. Donald was member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

He is the beloved husband of Marie (Remillard) McManus with whom they shared 48 years of marriage. They raised their family in Danvers and moved to Atkinson, NH 12 years ago. Donald's joy in life was his family, raising his daughters with his wife, and playing a special role in the life of his grandsons, especially activities such as karate, fishing and all the other special things grandfathers do. He will be missed by his family and those who love him.

Donald's surviving family members in addition to his wife Marie include his cherished daughters Dawn Marie Hefron and husband Matthew of Newburyport and Jennifer Munroe and husband Keith of Derry, NH; adored grandsons Zachary and Corey Munroe; siblings Ray McManus and wife Carol, Jackie DiChiara, Cathy Doheney and husband John and Gail Hadley; many nieces and nephews; please keep in your prayers several of Donald's siblings that have passed before him.

Visiting hours will be Friday, March 3, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Donald's memory may be made to either the MSPCA Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 or to the Greater Derry Boys and Girls Club, 40 East Derry Road, Derry, NH 03038.
