It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Derek Bogart, aged 55, who left us unexpectedly on June 24. Derek was born on July 26, 1970, in Lynn, MA to the late Allen and Anne Bogart of West Newbury, MA. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle and friend to many.

Derek is survived by lifelong partner and best friend Paula Rothwell of Merrimac, MA. Loving sister Rebecca Bogart of Pepperell, MA. His three sons, Zack Bogart and his wife Lana of San Diego, CA, Joe Bogart and Nick Bogart of Merrimac, MA. He was also a big part of his three stepchildren Cody Rothwell, Jared Rothwell and Makenzie Rothwell. He was a beloved uncle to Shawn Schroth of Haverhill, MA and Taylor Boisvert and Husband Chuck of Litchfield, NH. He was the best great uncle to Cameron, Patrick and Liam. Derek is also survived by many cousins, aunts and uncles and his lifelong friends.

Derek was incredibly charismatic and would connect to people instantly. His humor and wit was unmatched and he would not leave a room without making a new friend. After graduating from UMASS Dartmouth in 1992, Derek spent 33 successful years in sales where he was a beloved colleague of many. His ability to connect to others was a perfect connection to his professional life in sales.

Derek’s life was a testament to love, laughter and dedication to his family and friends.

He brought joy and laughter to everyone he met and will be remembered for his love of golf, history, and travel, and as the biggest fan of Larry Bird and Law and Order. Derek loved music and he attended his 50th Black Crowes show days before his passing with his close friend Jason.

His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Words of Remembrance will begin at 1:00 PM.
