NEW BEDFORD- David Allen Whelan passed in New Bedford on April 17, 2015. He was born in New Bedford on December 23, 1958. Dave was the sixth of eight children. Son of Doris Whelan with siblings Mike, Pat, Polly, Jan, Kevin, Bill, and Rich. Dave was mechanically gifted and also explored his artistic skills making scrimshaw with his brother Mike. Dave is survived by 6 nieces and 6 nephews; in recent years, Dave and Barbara were particularly close. Dave was loved by his family and friends.
