Obituary

David Ricci, 67 of Andover, Massachusetts, died peacefully on his birthday, August 2, at his residence on Chestnut Court.  David was born in Lawrence, and far surpassed the age limitations, having been born with Down Syndrome.  His family was grateful for this, as the joy he brought to their lives is hard to surmise.

David loved to laugh and smile, and life's simple pleasures made him happy. He loved his family, holidays, coffee, and eating. His favorite holidays were Christmas and his birthday. His annual birthday party, held at his sister Shirley's house on Salisbury Beach, was a neighborhood celebration. He also enjoyed traveling to Bermuda and Florida to visit with his sister Jackie.

He was cared for lovingly by the staff of Fidelity House, now called Waystone, where he developed an extended family, to whom his family is most grateful for. David's smile was infectious and he would eagerly greet anyone, friend or stranger, with a big hug and a kiss.  He most recently worked at American Training in Andover.

David was predeceased by his mother, Albina Busta Ricci of Methuen and his niece Erika Markelson of Miami, Florida.  He is survived by his two sisters, Jaqueline Markelson of Boynton Beach, FL and Shirley Shea and her husband Atty. Andrew F. Shea, formerly of Andover, niece Elizabeth Shea, her partner Eric Dorman, her son Andrew Coke his wife Madalyn, their son Drew, nephew Andrew Shea and his wife Jennifer, their children Avery and Ian Shea, and nephew John Shea.

A private Celebration of life will be held on Monday, August 11.
