HAVERHILL – Daniel J. Donovan, III, 78, longtime resident of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Lawrence on October 30, 1942, son of the late Daniel and Catherine (Gibbons) Donovan. Dan attended Lawrence schools and received an Associate's Degree from Merrimack College. He is a proud Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam until being honorably discharged.
Dan spent his career working as a warehouse manager for several companies and retiring from the IRS after 20 years.
He was a huge Boston Red Sox fan, and his other interests included golfing with his son and grandson. Most of all, his children and family were his world. Dan never missed a sporting event or any milestone. He was a caring and loving man who will be greatly missed.
Dan was the loving husband of Maria H. (Pimentel) Donovan, and shared almost 53 years of marriage together. His other surviving family members include his children Daniel J. Donovan, IV and wife Tammy of Millis, Lisa M. Donovan of Bradford and Carrie M. Donovan of Bradford; cherished grandchildren Jared J. Donovan-Tucker, Riley E. Donovan and Madison L. Donovan; siblings Shawn Donovan and wife Natalie of NH; several adored nieces and nephews; predeceased by his close cousin Marty Gibbons.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 10, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Please meet directly at church. Note to wear face coverings and social distancing measures will be in place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dan's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org
