NEWBURYPORT: Cynthia B. Fitts, 65, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2014 at Anna Jacques Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Haverhill on January 29, 1949, Cynthia was the daughter of the late Walter and Charlotte (Britton) Fitts.

Cynthia graduated from Pentucket Regional High School, Class of 1967, and continued her studies at Northern Essex Community College. Her lengthy career in the telephone industry spanned many years including various managerial positions before culminating in her retirement from NYNEX.

She was a people person whose effervescent and infectious personality, coupled with a keen sense of humor, keep her close to her many friends. Cynthia was a member of the Second Congregational Church in West Newbury, and Merrimack Valley Pioneers Club 31. She enjoyed the ocean, traveling with friends to Foxwoods and Bermuda.

Cynthia is survived by her sister Priscilla Cook and husband Paul of Haverhill; niece, Jennifer Cook; nephew, Christopher Cook, and uncle, Craig Simpson of Apopka, FL.

Relatives and friends are in invited to the funeral on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at 11:30 at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Walnut Cemetery.
