Obituary

HAVERHILL - Craig Stearns, 61, longtime Haverhill resident, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 17, 2020 at the High Pointe Hospice, with his family by his side.

Craig is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Melrose; two children: Collin Stearns and Nicholas Stearns; mother Marguerite Stearns; sister Denise Stearns; nephew Patrick Yurek; nieces Ashley Witney, Katherine Baker, Sarah Baker and Karen Yurek. He was predeceased by father Ellsworth Stearns and younger brother Michael Stearns.

Craig grew up in Hudson, MA. His father, Ellsworth, was an engineer and inventor. He passed this interest on to Craig who graduated from WPI with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Craig was proud to achieve the level of Engineering Fellow at a major defense contractor where he worked for nearly 35 years. His achievements include holding a US patent, generating and consulting on many designs, and mentoring engineers during his career. Craig married the love of his life, Marilyn Melrose, in May 1996.

Craig loved to spend time with his sons. They all enjoyed video games. Craig would often ask Collin and Nick to help him with multiplayer games on his XBOX. Craig loved to watch football with Collin, both of them avid Patriots fans. Craig and Nick shared an interest in computers. Craig was also interested in fixing up houses and often led projects around the house, with help from Marilyn, Collin and Nick. Lately, he was involved with 3D printing projects, making iPhone holders and various accessories for around the house.
