SANDOWN, NH: Claire R. (Paradis) Law, 91, formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Milton A. Law to whom she was married for twenty-seven years.
Born in Haverhill on March 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Emile P. and Alma A. (Miron) Paradis.
Claire was educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1946. She dedicated herself to raising her children, cherishing their achievements while being involved in all their endeavors.
Claire was accomplished in all forms of needlecraft, and for many years owned and operated her own craft store, "Family Affair", in Groveland, MA. Claire was a communicant of the former St. Joseph's Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and outfitted her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with many original outfits. Her talent showed in the making of girl's outfits with matching dolls and hats, and her pillows, afghans, and many other projects.
A big part of her life was caring for her own children, grandchildren, and friend's children. She always said "Children keep you young", and that was what made her the happiest. She was so loved by many.
Claire is survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Ellen Rattey of Hampton, NH, widow of Alan J. Rattey; her loving children, Jeanne Henry and husband Charles of Leesburg, FL, Michele Conte of Plaistow, NH, Cheryl Smith and husband Alan, with whom Claire lived, of Sandown, NH, Scott B. Law and wife Nanceann of Sandown, Steven Law and wife Elizabeth of Haverhill, Jeffrey Law of Hampton, NH, Douglas Law and wife Jacquelyn of Ipswich, Gregory Law of Haverhill; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; step-children, Milton Law of Columbus, OH, Michael Law of Haverhill, and Deborah Michaud and husband William of Belgrade Lakes, ME. Claire was preceded in death by her son Alan J. Rattey and siblings, Lorraine Cleaves, Paul Paradis, Richard Paradis and Cecile Munroe.
Claire's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice Care for the warm and loving care extended to their mother during her time with them.
Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill will be private with interment in the spring at Hillside Cemetery.
