Cheryl L.
Sanborn
October 22, 1948 – August 31, 2025
NY, NY: Cheryl L. Sanborn, 76, of New York City, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at her niece's home in Brentwood, NH, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on October 22, 1948, in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of the late Allen P. and Virginia L. (Wood) Sanborn.
Cheryl began her education at Haverhill High School before relocating to New York City, where she graduated from Julia Richmond High School in 1966. She went on to build a career in bookkeeping, working for several firms in New York, before joining Republic Airlines. When Republic was acquired by Delta, Cheryl continued with the company, dedicating nearly two decades to the airline industry.
Later, Cheryl earned her Bachelor of Science in Hospitality from New York University and launched a second career in hospitality, holding various roles in the industry. In retirement, she continued sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm as an adjunct professor at CUNY Technical College.
Though originally from Massachusetts, Cheryl called New York City home for most of her life. She embraced its energy and culture, and the city became an integral part of who she was.
She is survived by her siblings: Stephen Sanborn and his wife Joyce L. of Fremont, NH, and Laural J. Sanborn and her husband Walter P. Stasiuk of Venice, FL. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces: Kelly L. Sanborn of Brentwood, NH, Kristina L. Temple and her husband Mark W. Temple of Brentwood, NH, and Katelyn L. French and her husband Benjamin J. French of Brentwood, NH. Cheryl was a cherished great-aunt to two grandnieces and two grandnephews.
