Celeste Sally
Schena
July 10, 1928 – August 18, 2017
SALEM, NH - Sally passed and ascended into heaven on Friday, August 18, 2017, at the Residence at Salem Woods, Salem, NH, with her loving family by her side.
Sally was born on July 10, 1928, in Haverhill, MA to Fred and Theresa (Comeau) McLaughlin. She was educated at St. James Grammar School and St. James High School in Haverhill and was employed at New England Telephone Company retiring after 25 years of service in 1980.
Sally met the love of her life, Frank Schena, at Hampton Beach. He worked for Western Electric and retired in 1978. They were married for 67 wonderful years until his passing in 2015. Frank and Sally raised three children while residing on Muriel Terrace in Bradford, MA. After retirement, Sally and Frank shared and enjoyed winters on the Gulf Coast of Florida where the family vacationed with them for many years. There are countless fond memories of the children's and grandchildren's visits in Florida as well during the summer months where they spent loving times with their family and friends back at home. Sally and Frank enjoyed traveling with their family to various destinations such as Cape Code, Lake George, Niagara Falls, New York World's Fair, White Mountains and the New England seacoast. Their 60th Wedding Anniversary was shared by family members on a Bermuda boat cruise.
She will be sadly missed by all who know her. Sally was a selfless, loving, affectionate, kind, and supportive woman to all she touched. Her family extends its gratitude to Greystone Farm Senior Living and The Residence at Salem Woods, both in Salem, NH and especially to Hospice Care.
Her surviving family members include her loving children Paula Cox and husband David of Groveland, MA, Pamela Maurice and husband Daniel of Hampstead, NH, and Mark Schena and wife Jennifer of Salem, NH; four beloved grandchildren Monica Barbieri, Elissa Biery, Andrew Cox, and Joseph Schena; five great-grandchildren Madison and Mason Barbieri, Michael and Thomas Biery, and Jacob Cox; and several nieces and nephews.
