BILLERICA - Catherine M. (Murphy) Mize, 79, passed away after a short illness on July 15, 2021, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Billerica Memorial High School and U.S. Army veteran (WAC) where she worked in obstetrics and also skydived. She enjoyed family, art, and the simpler things in life, including gardening and birdwatching.

Catherine was predeceased by her parents, James R. and Catherine M. (Murphy) Murphy, brothers, James R. Murphy Jr., Paul Murphy, and son's in-law William Cowie and John MacMillan, III.

Catherine is survived by her daughters Margaret Cowie, Christine MacMillan, Evelynne Kinsella and husband, Timothy, her son John Mize and wife Salma, along with grandchildren, Sarah MacMillan, Rebecca MacMillan, Yvonne Kinsella, Julie Kinsella, Aidan Kinsella, Catherine Mize, Christine Mize, Lovetter Kamara, Abdul Kamara, Amarah Kamara, and Nakama Kamara, and siblings, John Murphy, Joan (Murphy) LeDoux and husband Wayne, William Murphy and wife Lynn, Mary (Murphy) Molinari and husband John, Evelyn (Murphy) Geremia, and Michael Murphy and wife Jen.

Private services were held at Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica. Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in St. Theresa's Church, 63 Winter Street, North Reading, MA at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers please send donations in her honor to her favorite charities, St. Jude and the ASPCA.
