NEWBURYPORT: Carolyn M. Arcisz died peacefully early Thursday morning September 5th at Kindred Brigham Manor. Formerly of Merrimac, she had also resided at the Elizabeth Calsey Home in Amesbury for five years. Carolyn grew up in Worcester, MA and spent time in Connecticut as well, graduating from New Britain High School. She attended Becker Junior College in Worcester. She was the oldest living of six siblings.
Carolyn was employed by the Haverhill Police Department as Principal Clerk and retired in 1986 after 28 years of service. Following her retirement she had part time jobs at the Haverhill Public Library and the former Hale Hospital. For many years she was a member of the Water Aerobics class at the Newburyport YWCA.
Her family includes her two daughters, Lindy Davis and husband Ed and Gretchen Handerson and husband Bob all of Merrimac. Her grandchildren, Lee-ann Willwerth and husband Thomas and Kimberly Gendron and husband Ronald all of Manchester by the Sea, Eric Davis and wife Heather of Merrimac, Courtney Connolly and husband Kevin of Chicago and Brett Handerson and wife Olivia of Pleasanton, CA. She was the great grandmother to Bennett Strayton, Elorie and Caroline Willwerth, Claire and Charles Gendron, Shamus Mitchell and Jack Davis, and Maisy, Emma and Nolan Connolly. Her oldest daughter Dorothy Peterson passed away in 1987.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of her life on Saturday, September 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the Davis residence, 59 Highland Road, Merrimac, MA. Burial will be private at later date. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill.
