HAVERHILL: Carole E. Royer, 86, passed away peacefully at High Pointe House in Haverhill on October 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Haverhill on March 1, 1939, Carole was the daughter of the late Clifton and Alice (Smith) Hastings.

Carole attended Haverhill High School and later returned to earn her GED. Carole was a devoted homemaker and a loyal member of the kitchen staff at Hannah Duston Nursing Home, where she worked for thirty years with care and dedication.

She found joy in walking, reading, dancing, and staying active with friends and through her fitness membership at the YMCA. A passionate reader, Carole made full use of the Haverhill Public library resources. She was also a proud and faithful fan of the New England Patriots.

Carole was predeceased by her partner of thirty years, James H. Allen and is survived by her children: Mark Royer and his wife Joyce of Billerica; Eric Royer and his wife Meredith of Boston; Darren Royer of Lawrence and his life-long partner Becky Bolduc; Janet Conway and her husband Christopher of Clermont, FL; and Kevin Royer of Haverhill. She was a beloved grandmother to seven grandchildren and one great grand-child. Carole also leaves behind her sisters, Norma Holland and her husband Jim of Indiana, and Joanne Smith and her husband Larry of Salem, New Hampshire. She is also survived by her former husband of 33 years and father of her children, Richard Royer of Gloucester.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Carole's life on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. Services will be followed by inurnment at Linwood Cemetery.
