HAVERHILL: Carl R. Hitchcock, 79, passed away suddenly on February 20, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital. Carl was the husband of the late Erlamond (Lightbody) Hitchcock.

Born in Haverhill on June 21, 1934 he was the son of the late George B. and Mabel (Abbott) Hitchcock.

Carl worked many years as a dishwasher at the former Pedro Diego's in Haverhill until his retirement in 2001, and currently worked as custodian at Bradford Seafood. Carl was an active member of First Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by all his family and church friends.

Carl is survived by his sisters, Phyllis Jackson of Florida, Charlotte Villers of Haverhill, Shirley Gauthier of Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late June Dagnal, Ronald Hitchcock and Frederick Hitchcock.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Wednesday, February 26th , at 11:00 a.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery will be private. Donations in Carl's name may be made to First Baptist Church, 217 Main Street, Haverhill, MA 01830, or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
